Juji - centre chest point

Akuzawa sensei talks a lot about the juji, the centre point of the chest. Why is this point important? I think it's important for the correct posture and it must relax and drop to connect and hookup to the lower spine and tailbone. If the chest stays up and does not relax then a person will never be able to connect their upper and lower body. Softening and dropping the juji point takes the gravity point lower into our body and helps us to understand in more detail the natural structure and inherent potential of our Bujutsu frame and body.

  1. Hey Michael,

In a stability test, say a steady push into the chest, should you be connecting these 2 points and sink under the push or over the push? Also, how would the legs get engaged? Just curious.

    1. Eric. You need to drop you drop you chest point by rolling your spine and you will find you body will then rest into naturally the best position which will mean your weight point and your opponents weight point should be under your opponents. Your legs will naturally adjust due to the dropping of chest but should be relaxed and soft not forcefully engaged. The rolling of the spine is very key for the AUNKAI basic starting posture point. Without this all other changes or adjustments you make will it be correct because the starting point is wrong. Good luck
